Midday Prayer

From The Fellowship of St Brendan

As the summer calls us to action, so does the midday.
+ In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Before The Lord
I lift up my eyes to the hills. From where does my help come?
My help comes from the LORD, the Maker of heaven and earth.
He who keeps me does not slumber; He watches over my coming and going,
both now and forevermore.1

Declaration of Faith
Lord, You have always kept me safe in trials;
and now, tried as I am, today I believe.2

Food From Above
Man does not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.3

(Scripture Reading)
Read the day’s Psalm from the Revised Common Lectionary (click “Go to Today’s Readings”) or  Celtic Daily Prayer (Each page has 10 readings, starting in reverse order. Scroll to the bottom to find page numbers for the other readings/days).

Blessed is everyone who hears Christ’s words and acts on them.4 Thanks be to God.

(Prayers of the People)

Christ of the Mysteries, have mercy. Lord, have mercy.5

Praise Be To God
I have sought the Lord, and he has answered me;
He has delivered me from all my fears.
Glorify the Lord with me; let us exalt his name together.
His praise will forever be on my lips.6

Into the World
If I sail beyond the farthest ocean or lose myself in the depths below
Wherever I may go, Your love surrounds me
For you have gone before, beyond these shores
Wherever I may go, Your love surrounds me7
