Evening Prayer

From The Fellowship of St Brendan

As the fall brings times of reflection, so does the evening.
+ In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Before The Lord
I The LORD will always guide you;
He will satisfy you in a sun-scorched land and strengthen your frame.
You will be like a well-watered garden,
like a spring whose waters never fail.1

Declaration of Faith
Lord, You have always given peace for the moment;
and though anxious of heart, this evening I believe.2

Food From Above
How precious to me are Your thoughts, O God!
How vast is the sum of them!
Were I to count them,
They would outnumber the grains of sand.3

(Scripture Reading)
Read the day’s Psalm from Revise Common Lectionary or Celtic Daily Prayer

Blessed is everyone who hears Christ’s words and acts on them.4 Thanks be to God.

(Prayers of the People)

Christ of the Mysteries, have mercy. Lord, have mercy.

Praise Be To God
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ,
Who has blessed us in Christ
with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly realms.
He has chosen and adopted me as His son or daughter,
according to His good pleasure
and the praise of His glorious grace.5

Into Your Rest
Praise the Lord,
all you servants of the Lord who minister by night in the house of the Lord.
Lift up your hands in the sanctuary and praise the Lord.6
